In a preliminary “heads-up” announcement, the Defense Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) within DHS published a notice on Dec. 28 alerting industry, federal labs and other organizations that it intends to issue a broad agency announcement (BAA) in January for an “Exploratory Research and Call for Proposals” program.

This upcoming BAA will solicit proposals related to “Preventing Nuclear and Radiological Terrorism,” says the DNDO announcement, which included no specific details about the planned scope of work.

The BAA will be issued to private industry, but commercial companies can team or subcontract with other commercial companies, as well as with federal research labs, other federally-funded government activities and other organizations.

The solicitation will be issued by the DHS Office of the Chief Procurement Officer.

Further information is available from Heather Poindexter, a contracting officer, at 202-254-7094 or heather.poindexter@hq.dhs.gov.
