Commentary and Opinions

Los Angeles, CA, December 9 -  The American Alliance of Airport Police Officers (AAAPO) supports legislation introduced by Senator Bill Nelson (D- FL), Ranking Member of the Senate Commerce, Science, & Transportation Committee, to strengthen internal security at our nation's airports.
By Steve Bittenbender As the Transportation Secretary waits on the findings from a task force looking at how to establish a registration system for unmanned aircraft, a public policy organization is calling on Congress to take additional action to help make the skies safer. The American Leadership and Policy Foundation said Congress should consider requiring background checks performed on people who purchase drones and the components to make such unmanned machines. A licensing and certification process also should be examined.
By Steve Bittenbender A 77-year-old Egyptian-American claims four Customs and Border Protection agents used unnecessary force and caused serious injuries in detaining him before he could board a flight at Los Angeles International Airport. That’s according to a federal lawsuit filed on his behalf by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) earlier this month.
Washington, DC, September 11 - Today, the nation marks the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks that took the lives of some 3,000 Americans. In the 14 years that have passed, the world has become an even more dangerous place, while in many ways our defenses against another major terrorist attack have been weakened, warns the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).
