Grants available for vehicle anti-ram proposals

The Department of State will award up to $7 million to one or more institutions whose proposals detail specific vehicle anti-ram research, development, testing and evaluation.

Eligibility for grants is limited to academic educational institutions accredited by the Board for Engineering and Technology.

Additionally, those institutions are required to be located in the U.S. or its territories.

DoS expects to award a single grant, for between $5 million and $7 million, although it reserves the right to “select for award all, some or one of the proposals submitted in response to the RFP.” The anticipated period of the award is five years.

Deadline for applications is March 17, 2010. The grant funding opportunity number is DSPSP-10-CA-001-WHA-021710.

The ultimate use of the vehicle anti-rams will involve diplomatic security, according to the RFP.
