Insider Threat Defense introduces insider threat program training course for U.S. government agencies and businesses
Silver Spring, MD-based Insider Threat Defense (ITD) has developed and is offering a specialized instructor led Insider Threat Program (ITP) Training Course. The course was developed in response to the many recent data breaches affecting the U.S. government and businesses. It provides organizations with a proven and comprehensive enterprise framework for mitigating insider threats, according to the company.
The course was developed in accordance with Executive Order (EO) 13587, the National Insider Threat Policy (NITP), and numerous other supporting regulations. It will meet and exceed NITP requirements for establishing an Insider Threat Program and providing Insider Threat Awareness Training-Reporting Guidance. The course leverages numerous existing federal laws, statutes, authorities, policies, programs, and resources in order to counter insider threats from agencies including the National Instate of Standards and Technology, the DoD, and the Office of Management and Budget. Per EO 13587, U.S. government agencies must have established an ITP by November 2013. The course also provides a model for establishing an Insider Threat Risk Management Framework for businesses.
The course is targeting: DoD, intelligence community agencies, and defense industrial base contractors responsible for protecting classified information, and businesses protecting sensitive information.
The four day course covers 17 different modules and will teach individuals how to: 1) develop, implement, manage, or support an ITP 2) provide an ITP Risk Management Framework to build the ITP 3) provide in depth knowledge to identify insider threat risks, vulnerabilities, and weaknesses within an organization 4) provide risk mitigation strategies and actionable steps that can be taken to detect, deter, and mitigate insider threats within an organization, and 5) provide access to an Insider Threat Program Resource Website with additional ITP training resources.
It concludes with an exam that consists of multiple choice, matching, and true/false questions. ITD will work with students until they pass the exam, at no additional charge. Upon the successful passing of the exam students will receive a Insider Threat Security Specialist (ITSS) Certificate.
