The Lockheed Martin-led Next Generation Identification (NGI) team is beginning to fully develop and deploy a new NGI system capability that transforms how law enforcement officials search an FBI wanted persons database. Development efforts began after a successful Critical Design Review (CDR) for the system’s second phase, also known as Increment 2.
LaserCard Corp., of Mountain View, CA, announced the next generation of U.S. Permanent Resident Card, most commonly referred to as the “Green Card,” on May 12, featuring advanced optical security media, enhanced visual and forensic security features, and a Radio Frequency Identity (RFID) tag. The new card represents the first time optical security media and RFID have been implemented on a single card platform with sophisticated, tamperproof features.
AES Corporation, of Peabody, MA, announced on May 12 that the company’s AES-IntelliNet MultiNet long-range mesh alarm communications products have been approved by order of the New York City Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano.  The products receiving this new certificate of approval include the 7705i MultiNet Receiver, the AES-7170 IP Link, the 7788 Fire Subscriber and the 7770 FireTap, pursuant to Section FC 112 and 901 of the New Fire Code for New York.
In an interview with GSN at last week’s Border Security Expo in Phoenix, AZ, Michael Estigoy, product manager at SkyIMD, of San Carlos, CA, provided a detailed description of the company’s new aerial intelligence solution that was being launched at the show.
MITIE, a strategic outsourcing and asset management company has won a three-year agreement to provide security and freight support services to Eurotunnel, at its Folkestone terminal in the UK. ActivIdentity Corp., a supplier of strong authentication and credential management, has introduced a new solution to provision public key infrastructure (PKI) and Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201-compliant credentials onto BlackBerry smart phones. Using a secure microSD card, ActivIdentity enables BlackBerry users to sign secure e-mails digitally or provide two-factor authentication when remotely accessing protected network (Web) portals.
Tab Systems, Inc., of Naklo, Slovenia is gearing up for a worldwide launch of smarti Guardeon, the company’s new biometric unit for access control.  The multi-modal system, which uses facial and voice recognition is set to debut at the 2010 IFSEC Security Industry Awards in England on May 10-12. The awards show will also mark the fifth year in a row that Tab Systems has been listed as a finalist in the best new access control product category.

London, August 10 - The latest 364 page report from business intelligence provider visiongain offers comprehensive analysis of the global border security market. Visiongain assesses that this market will generate revenues of $16.4bn in 2015.

Teaneck, NJ, July 14 – Multi-factor authentication – a security protection required by US government standards – could have prevented the recent Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) security breaches that have exposed the personal information of millions of citizens to hackers, spies and cyber-criminals. The Federal government has been encouraging its agencies to use multi-factor authentication since November 2009, when it published the FICAM (Federal Identity and Access Management) Roadmap and Implementation Guidance.
