St. Petersburg, FL, - In a new development for the General Services Administration (GSA) government buyers have begun implementing a new way to evaluate a contractor’s performance on active contracts. The GSA has started using what they like to call “Objective Scorecards” in order to increase the speed and efficiency of the way contractors are graded for their work. Every scorecard allows each contractor to grade themselves based on a variety of criteria. This score is then incorporated to the overall evaluation conducted by the government buyer who awarded the contract.

Tucson, AZ., July 21 - Raytheon Company, in partnership with Fokker and Dallara, has developed a lower-cost carbon fiber airframe for the U.S. Air Force's Miniature Air Launched Decoy (MALD) by applying robotics and formula racing technologies. The three companies reduced airframe production costs by 25 percent. The new innovative composite design will be included in this year's Lot 7 production.

By Fraser ThomasLast week the US Congress began the process of making President Obama’s State of the Union address, where he focused on ways to secure the nation's businesses and infrastructure in cyberspace, a reality.On Wednesday two House members reintroduced a bill requiring companies to meet a specific set of data security standards when handling customers’ personal information.
With more than 10 million purported attempts to break into Pentagon systems and servers each day, it was not surprising when the White House confirmed that individuals thought to be working for the Russian government attempted to hack its servers.
From emptying classified trash in the Pentagon to providing state-of-the-art security monitoring for America’s most important military installations, private sector contractors are instrumental to securing the nation’s most precious resources -- our sons and daughters.
As we enter into the new fiscal year, three trends are going to be on the minds of every IT leader in Washington, D.C. And -- no big surprise -- they all revolve around Big Data. Those three crucial initiatives that will top the government enterprise priority list in 2015 are application rationalization, virtualization and cyber security.

The company has been focusing exclusively on portable X-ray systems since its creation, according to Tamir Aluma, and its products have been developed by military and police end users who know what is needed in the field.  The company’s CCD technology is based on a high-resolution camera that captures an image from an X-ray source, and is described by Mr.

EADS North America, recipient of GSN’s 2013 Platinum Award for “Best Wide Area Persistent Surveillance”, is one of the largest aerospace and defense companies in the world, as Joe Venezuela points out. Having been involved in border security and maritime security for over 20 years, the company has developed software and hardware solutions that run the gamut from turn-key solutions to individual sensors and custom-tailored solutions for clients in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Western Europe and Asia.

Textron Defense Systems has a wide range of products for the security market, according to Patti Shaffner, including its aerial ISR system, unmanned aerial systems and iCommand, which brings them all together. But the system that won the platinum award in GSN’s 2013 Border Security Awards Program for Best Outdoor Ground Sensors was the MicroObserver® Unattended Ground Sensor System, a complete solution containing sensor node, gateway and camera repeater.

According to Bobby Brown, VP for Homeland Security, Telephonics business units include a Maritime Surveillance unit, a Communications unit and an Integrated Surveillance Group, which produces a ground-based Advanced Radar System (ARSS), with 1,600 systems deployed globally.  In recent years, Telephonics has collaborated with Customs and Border Protection to develop a package called the Mobile Surveillance System (MSS) that includes ground radar, pan-tilt cameras and a C2 system, with 44 systems presently in CBP’s inventory.
