Border Security Awards 2013: Joe Valenzuela, Director of Border Security Solutions, EADS North America

EADS North America, recipient of GSN’s 2013 Platinum Award for “Best Wide Area Persistent Surveillance”, is one of the largest aerospace and defense companies in the world, as Joe Venezuela points out. Having been involved in border security and maritime security for over 20 years, the company has developed software and hardware solutions that run the gamut from turn-key solutions to individual sensors and custom-tailored solutions for clients in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Western Europe and Asia. EAD’s Spexer 1500 radar system, used in border security, has the ability to pick up and self-declare items of interest so that the operator only has to look at things that are out of the ordinary, and then cameras can be slewed from multiple towers to investigate, identify and classify what has been picked up.  Mr. Venezuela indicates that EADS is currently competing for the Integrated Fixed Towers program, and he adds in conclusion that the EADS radar and border security solution is the only one in the world that can offer multiple applications, multiple integrations and multiple sensors from multiple OEMs.
