Border Security Awards 2013: Tamir Aluma, Vidisco

Vidisco received the Platinum Award in the “Best Explosives/ID/Contraband Detection” category of GSN’s 2013 Border Security Awards. The company has been focusing exclusively on portable X-ray systems since its creation, according to Tamir Aluma, and its products have been developed by military and police end users who know what is needed in the field.  The company’s CCD technology is based on a high-resolution camera that captures an image from an X-ray source, and is described by Mr. Aluma as the “best portable imaging system in the world”.  All systems built for the field, he adds, can withstand the most rugged environmental conditions. In Customs and Border Protection, including airports and seaports, the major threats to be dealt with relate to smuggling in trucks, cars and cargo shipments, and in these situations, the mobility of Vidisco’s portable systems is very useful.  Mr Aluma further provides detailed descriptions of a number of Vidisco products, including its slider automatic platform that can take 4 images in less than a minute without the operator’s having to move a panel.
